Messages and reactions

Sending, editing, polls and message actions.

Choose the action

  • New message — Send message.
  • Reply attached to an original — Reply to message.
  • Change an existing message — Edit message.
  • Add an emoji — React to message.

Actions on an existing message need its ID and the correct chat. These are different values. Obtain them from an incoming event or an earlier send result.

Telegram moderation actions require the appropriate permissions. Do not test deletion on important messages.

Text, chips and buttons →

Send message

Sends a new message to a chat.

  1. Enter text, combining plain words, formatting and data chips. The original chat is used unless you set another destination.
  2. Add buttons and configure link previews if needed. Handle callback button clicks through the Button output of the events block.

Reply to message

Sends a reply attached to a specific message.

  1. Enter the text and the message to reply to, such as ${message.message_id}. Check the destination chat.
  2. Use Send message for a standalone message without a reply reference.

Edit message

Changes an existing message that the bot is allowed to edit.

  1. Set the chat, message ID and new text. You can take the ID from an earlier send result.
  2. Update or remove buttons if needed. This does not send a new message: an existing message ID is required.

React to message

Adds a reaction as the bot to a selected message.

  1. Set the message, chat and reaction emoji.
  2. Enable removal to clear the bot's own reaction. Removing another member's reaction uses a separate block and requires the appropriate permissions.

Send poll

Sends a poll with answer options.

  1. Enter the question and options, or supply an option list. Choose a regular poll or a quiz; set the correct answer for a quiz.
  2. Individual answers and aggregate results use different event outputs. Anonymous polls do not reveal who chose an option.

Pin message

Pins an existing message in a chat.

  1. Set the chat and message ID. Disable the pin notification if needed.
  2. The bot needs pinning permissions in a group or channel. This block does not create the message itself.

Copy message

Copies an existing message into another chat.

  1. Set the source chat, message ID and destination chat.
  2. The bot needs access to the source and permission to write to the destination. Content-copying restrictions still apply.

Delete message

Deletes a specific message from a Telegram chat.

  1. Set the chat and message ID, for example from the incoming event.
  2. Check the bot's permissions and Telegram's deletion restrictions. Use a test message while checking your flow.

Delete messages

Deletes several messages from one chat.

  1. Set the chat and a list of message IDs.
  2. This is bulk deletion. Check the list and the bot's permissions before running.

Delete ephemeral message

Deletes an ephemeral message addressed to a particular recipient.

  1. Set the chat, recipient user and ephemeral message ID.
  2. Use the ephemeral message's own ID. Ordinary messages use a different deletion block.

Unpin message

Unpins a message without deleting it.

  1. Set the chat and pinned message ID.
  2. The bot needs permission to manage pins. A separate block removes all pins.

Unpin all messages

Removes all message pins in a chat.

  1. Set the chat and check the bot's permissions.
  2. The messages remain in the chat. Use Unpin message for one pin.

Stop poll

Closes a previously sent poll.

  1. Set the chat and the poll message ID.
  2. No new answers are accepted after closure. Use a poll the bot is allowed to manage.

Delete member reaction

Removes a selected member's reaction from a specific message.

  1. Set the chat, message and reaction author: a user or a sender chat.
  2. This is a moderation action requiring appropriate permissions. To clear the bot's own reaction, use React to message with removal enabled.

Delete all member reactions

Removes all reactions by a selected author in a chat.

  1. Set the chat and the author's user ID or sender chat ID.
  2. This affects more than one message. Check the author and the bot's permissions before running.

Approve suggested post

Approves a suggested post.

  1. Set the chat and suggestion message ID. Set a publication time if needed.
  2. Use an actual suggested post and check that the bot is allowed to approve it.

Decline suggested post

Declines a suggested post.

  1. Set the chat, suggestion ID and an optional comment.
  2. This responds to a suggestion; it does not delete an ordinary published message.
